Students learn about different types of kayaks, how they work and how to use them.
Course description
Students learn travel planning, about dangers in the ocean, tides and weather conditions, as well as rowing, finding directions and route selecting. Time will also be spent learning about plant and animal life on the coast; shells, seaweed, birds and mammals.
The course is a mix of education, field trips, training and voyages. Students are also invited to take a longer kayaking trip with a teacher and assistants.
Skills at the end of the course:
Students should know the basics of kayaking, as well as the main safety features involved in the sport.
Students should become familiar with kayaking as a transportation possibility on long and short voyages.
